Paging Doctor Birdie!
A Blog to keep all my Malfatto-related things. Pictures, cosplay updates, ramblings...Please, do come in and enjoy.
It’s been a while since I’ve updated.
That is rather problematic.
In any event…. It’s because I’ve been busy this semester.
Mask has been scrapped and is being worked on by my wonderful Il Lupo, as is my syringe.
Expect there to be work upon the cloth this winter break.
It’s a bit more green than the picture on the website let on, but I can easily fix that with a bit of dye.
Still on hiatus from working, though. Wish me luck moving in.
Birthday’s coming up soon, so hopefully I’ll get a little money to finish ordering the glassware I’ll need for this cosplay.
I’m going to have to be super careful running around in this, because, yes- my pouches are going to be filled with actual glass. And so is my syringe.
Bottles - 1.50 in x 0.75 in - For Poison Vials on Belt
Vial - 0.90 in x 3.74 in - For Syringe
Anyway, I think I’m going to go work on making labels for my little medkit, pictures and ingredients of which will be coming soon.
Finally getting some work done on the jacket.
The pattern is Simplicity 5386, Duster A. (AKA, Neo up there). I plan on actually putting the buttons into the jacket instead of just having the velcro, though if it comes down to it, I can always make fake buttons.
The fabric is from one of my favorite websites, which has pretty good fabric for cheap. It’s a 100% Cotton Twill, medium weight, so it should be pretty durable for running around in.
I can’t wait to start working on it!
Started working on the details for the beak, as well as hollowing out the inside so I can actually breathe.
The inside of the beak will be stuffed with a potpourri mixture of dried mint, dried lavender, dried rosemary, and honey-scented salts. A thin layer of gauze/cheesecloth/broadcloth/I haven’t decided yet will be added to the inside of the mask to keep me from accidentally swallowing some of it.
I cut the nose and lips off the craft mask with a hacksaw, so the beak can lay better against it Perhaps there will be a little space, but some layers of paperclay and rigid wrap will keep it strong and sturdy!
More updates to come~
